Failure: Inability of a component to perform the function for which it was designed whatever be the reason.
Analysis: The examination of a failed component to determine the cause(s) for failure.
Purpose: The purpose of “Failure Investigation Service” is to determine the specific mechanism(s) and cause(s) for failure and to find the possible solution such that the problem does not recur.
Failure analysis and prevention are important functions to all of the engineering disciplines. The materials engineer often plays a lead role in the analysis of failures, whether a component or product fails in service or if failure occurs in manufacturing or during production processing. In any case, it is most important to determine the cause(s) of failure to prevent future occurrence, and/or to improve the performance of the device, component or structure.
Failure Investigation Service Experience
Our staff has had experience for over 20 years in the fields of Materials Technology, Failure Investigation, Engineering Critical Analysis (ECA), Corrosion, Fatigue & Fracture, Structure-property Correlation, Heat Treatment, and Expert Witness Testimony from the initial legal proceedings through Trial. Our staff has solved several materials engineering problems and performed over five hundred failure investigation on components from petrochemical plants, oil and gas transmission pipelines, offshore structures, ships, earth moving equipments, food processing equipment, pharmaceutical plants, gas turbine engine components, steel mill and defense equipments and also served as investigation team leader for few major failure investigation cases around the world including Singapore.
